Pharmacist Salary in Canada
Discussion of expected pharmacist salaries in Canada
On the question of expected pharmacist salary in Canada, I will direct you to www.labourmarketinformation.ca's wages and salaries page. This part of Service Canada's web site allows you to look up average salaries for many different jobs according to province.
Given the current demand for pharmacists in Canada you can usually expect salaries to be on the higher end of the scale Service Canada provide. ;)
I am not sure of the current cost of the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) Degree and their validity in other countries, but I can direct you to The University of Toronto's Doctor of Pharmacy Web Page and maybe you could find some information by contacting them.
Good luck,
Mat
hi all,
can any body tell me about the pharmacy intern ,how much should i be paied?i did not do my qualifying exams yet?
Hi,
Generally as a pharmacy intern you will get paid, how much depends on the pharmacy and the province. You can probably expect anywhere from a third to half a regular pharmacists wage. If you are hoping to get work in a pharmacy before passing all of your PEBC exams, you should know you will most likely only get a job as a pharmacy technician.
As a pharmacy Technician you should get paid somewhere in the region of $18 to $20 per hour.

Hi,
I am working as a pharmacy intern and getting a salary of $12/ hr. I have an M.Phil degree on top from my B.Pharm. I am expecting my result for the evaluating exam on the 5th. I feel I am underpaid from the discussion today, what should i expect?
Hi Ranash,
The salary range is going to vary widely depending on province and your qualifications. Though $12 an hour is not great it is worth bearing in mind that many PEBC exam takers find it hard to get jobs in pharmacy at all. Looking at www.labourmarketinformation.ca you will see the average wage for 'Other Assisting Occupations in Support of Health Services', under which the job of pharmacy technician is listed, is $13.70 per hour. So really it depends on your luck.
If you pass your evaluating exam you may be in a slightly stronger position to negotiate wage as you are a step closer to being qualified. A pharmacy that feels that you are close to being a qualified pharmacist should want to keep you. Probably the best way to approach this is to ask how much qualified pharmacy technicians get paid, but bear in mind you are not a qualified pharmacy technician even though you have a pharmacy degree.
Good luck,
Mat
Hi,
Can anyone guide me on internship policy in B.C. Who selects the place- the college or the candidate? How much is the salary of an intern? What points should one keep in mind when looking for internship? I have worked some 800 hours in a pharmacy as an pharmacy intern.
Thanks.
