Cholesterol Measurement Units

When measuring cholesterol levels (LDL‐C), I believe in Canada we use mmol/l and in the U.S. they use mg/dl. As such I would expect the PEBC to use mmol/l.
Just in case:

  • to convert mmol/l of total cholesterol, HDL or LDL cholesterol to mg/dl, multiply by 39
  • to convert mg/dl of total cholesterol, HDL or LDL cholesterol to mmol/l, divide by 39

* The above calculation only applies to the cholesterol readings mentioned.

  • to convert mmol/l of triglycerides to mg/dl, multiply by 89
  • to convert mg/dl of triglycerides to mmol/l, divide by 89

* The above calculation only applies to the triglyceride readings.

  • To convert mmol/l of glucose to mg/dl, multiply by 18.
  • To convert mmol/l of glucose to mg/dl, divide by 18.

* The above calculation only applies to the glucose readings.
